Sunburst Raffle!

Do you want to be part of selecting which performers Sunburst Arts and Education brings to Eureka for our next winter concert series?  Do you want to experience the Montana Performing Arts Consortium, a delightful weekend of live music with twenty different performances and a chance to meet the musicians? You can win this all-expense paid weekend in Ft. Benton with the Sunburst team to select performers for our 2023-24 concert season. Raffle tickets are $10 and are available for adults 21 years and older.

Background Every January, Sunburst sends a team of 3-4 individuals to the Montana Performing Arts Consortium (MPAC) to select performers for the upcoming concert series. MPAC is a jam-packed weekend listening to live music, talking with performers, and meeting people from other Montana towns. MPAC starts on Friday afternoon with a chance to mingle, then have dinner. Saturday is filled with showcases by performers from morning until late afternoon. Then after a wonderful dinner on Saturday evening, many of the musicians gather for an informal jam. Sunday morning gets serious when people from across Montana meet to talk about which performers each town is interested in bringing in. This is when we discuss block-booking – an integral part of the process.

What you do as part of our team  MPAC is a wonderful opportunity to hear live music and to talk with musicians from around the US, and sometimes from other countries as well. The purpose of participating in MPAC is selecting which performers Sunburst will sign to bring to Eureka as part of our five-concert Performing Arts Series. How do we decide? Listening to the showcases, talking with the performers (we want great musicians who are also easy people to work with), finding out which performers other towns are interested in as often we can negotiate lower fees if we help set up a tour (for example bringing performers to Eureka, Libby, Polson and Superior). Of course, putting together a fabulous season that will draw an audience is a factor as well as price.
