Performing Arts Series 2024-25

We are excited to announce Sunburst’s 26th Annual Performing Arts Series! Join us for our fabulous season. We believe it’s one of our best!

Deep Mountain (October 4, 2024) What a treat to open Sunburst’s 26th annual winter concert series with this home-grown bluegrass plucking, singing and strumming group featuring six of the Tobacco Valley’s finest musicians! Come out for a wonderful evening as Deep Mountain takes to the big stage for an awesome concert. https://www.facebook.com/tvbluegrass

Jazz Legacy Project (November 2, 2024) Why does Thelonious Monk play the piano like that? Why is John Coltrane's music so intense? Why is Billie Holiday's voice so unique?  The Jazz Legacy Project has an ongoing residency at the Velvet Note Jazz Club in Atlanta, where they sell out performances. They’ve discovered that playing jazz and telling the stories behind the music is something audiences thoroughly enjoy. Come listen to this red-hot band from Atlanta, Georgia! https://www.jazzlegacyproject.com/

The Wardens (January 25, 2025) This Canadian Rocky Mountain-based band’s stories and songs rise from the land they protect as Canadian national park wardens. With three-part harmonies, the band’s mountain music, blending folk, roots and western styles, reflects Canada's protected wilderness areas. The Wardens played in the Tobacco Valley back in 2018. If you caught that, you know how good they are. https://thewardensmusic.com/

Mari Black Ensemble (March 23, 2025) Mari Black’s fiddling, sparkling stage presence, and commitment brings people together through music. A master of diverse musical styles, award-winning Mari Black provides musical adventures featuring Celtic, Americana, and Canadian fiddling, jazz, tango, klezmer, and folk. Her group sets the stage on fire. http://www.mariblack.com/

Duende Libre (April 1, 2025) Duende Libre is an award-winning trio from Seattle whose music combines jazz virtuosity with roots rhythms from Cuba, Brazil, and West Africa. Each apprenticed with descendants and master musicians of these traditions.  And each of these musicians are incredible, performing together they will definitely knock your socks off.https://duendelibre.com/
